Nunavut Cultures and Lifestyle

5:27 AM No Comment
Just right before I made, and completed all my research on the subject matter, I have always knew that, the Nunavut is a part of a culture in Canada simple because, each and every country has its own ideal, ways, tribe, taste, culture, and even spirit just like Vanessa Williams once sang in the movies "Pocahontas" 'the color of the wind', in the 80s and in that song, I got to know that, culture is something that is unique to each and every country, from continent to another and so on.

Nunavut culture is one so unique and since a written historical accounts theirs begin or can be date back to 1576, with an account by an English explorer. Martin Frobisher  on an excursion in order to discover the Northwest Passage, which was said to be filled with Gold ore around the body of water now known as Frobisher Bay on the coast of Baffin Island. But, it was discovered that, the ore turns out to be worthless and so Frobisher made the first recorded European contact with the Inuit

And some of the explorers who also searched for the elusive Northwest Passage followed in the 17th century, including and not limited to, Robert Bylot, Henry Hudson, and William Baffin.

Nunavut region has continuously supported populations for up to 4000 years, and most historians also would identify this coast of Baffin Island with the Helluland described in Norse sagas, so it is possible that the inhabitants of the region had occasional contact with Norse sailors in those days, and in September 2008, researchers reported on the evaluation of existing and newly excavated archaeological remains, including yarn spun from rats, tally, a hare, tally sticks, a and carved wooden face mask depicting Caucasian features.

These artifacts seems to have indicated that, they have been prolonged contact and possibly up to 1450 because, the origin of the Old World contact was unclear; the article states: "Dating of some yarn and other artifacts, presumed to be left by Vikings on Baffin Island according to some archaeologists since they have produced an age that before the Vikings by several hundred and many years ago and so, we have to consider any possibility because, as remote as it may seems, these findings may represent or be an evidence of contacts with the Europeans before the Vikings' arrival in that time to the Greenland.".

Each culture and their tradition have always been so fascinating and no matter how or which angle you want to take a look at it, we are all endowed with culture or tradition that is worth dying for since loosing them could be that, we have not really existed and they need protected and proper documentation and w2ell preserved for our future and children yet unborn.

So, each culture tradition, valued and norms should be properly guarded in order to insure a longer lasting value.
